ARTIST RESIDENCIES

Florence Workshops offers 4 week 8 and 12 week independent studio residencies, and longer if requested. The independent residencies provide studio space with access to the extensive facilities in the studio.

Florence Workshops provides a high-level, very personal program in Florence with unique resources. It is a place where emerging and professional artists can work intensively with independence for an uninterrupted period of creative work. In a supportive and creative environment artists can have the freedom to experiment, work multidisciplinary and to develop a new body of work.

Residencies begin either the 1st week of the month. Florence Workshops is closed during the last two weeks of December until the third week of January, and the month of August. The open studio hours for residencies is: Monday-Thursday from 2.00-7:00PM

 

APPLICATION CRITERA
Florence Workshops is particularly suited to emerging and professional artists wishing to explore new areas of inquiry, experimentation with new techniques and to develop a new body of work for exhibition.

Applications are open to artists of all levels from beginners to advanced are accepted year round.


Candidates should submit:
a) an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae
b) 5-7 examples of recent work in JPG format sent via email
c) a proposal or outline of the project to be undertaken during the residence
d) the desired dates of stay

Visa
All participants are required by Italian law to obtain a Study Visa.
Because the visa procedure can take a number of weeks to complete (from two to six weeks depending on the consulate), it is suggested that the visa application be submitted well in advance of the intended departure date. Visas may be obtained only in the US, or country of citizenship, at the Italian Consulate or Embassy. Applications and materials must be submitted to the consulate that has jurisdiction over the student's place of permanent residence or home school address. If you submit your information to a consulate outside of your jurisdiction, it will be returned to you unprocessed. Participants who will need to apply for a Study Visa, Florence Workshops will provide the necessary certificate required by the Italian Consulate. The Florence Workshop fees must be entirely paid in advance before Florence Workshops will issue the certificate.

Expenses for the certificate delivery by express courier are to be covered by the applicant. In case the student cannot obtain a visa, he/she must advise Florence Workshops by sending a copy of the original document denying the visa. The enrollment fees will be refunded except for the bank or postal expenses and penalties for cancellation of the housing reservations. After the enrollment certificate has been issued it is not possible to cancel or to modify the workshops dates.
All fees for workshops and artist's residencies must be paid for in advance prior to receiving the enrollment certificate.
